Wealth Enhancement Group donates $18,000 to Second Harvest Heartland
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (August 2009) – Wealth Enhancement Group takes a stand this year for the 1 in 8 Americans that don't have enough food. At their annual client appreciation event held on Aug. 6 at International Market Square, Wealth Enhancement Group’s metro area offices and clients were able to provide 72,084 meals in an effort to end hunger in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. That is enough meals to feed a family of four for 16-years.
With over 400 people in attendance, the evening consisted of a silent auction raising $7,800 with all proceeds benefiting Second Harvest Heartland and a donation of $10,000 from Wealth Enhancement Group accepted by Carol Stoddart, Director of Individual Philanthropy at Second Harvest Heartland.
Bruce Helmer, President of Wealth Enhancement Group, stated “Wealth Enhancement Group is ecstatic to have this opportunity to be able to give back to the community. We know in this difficult economic time it’s important to focus on the basics and what Wealth Enhancement Group was founded on, and that is to put our clients and community first.”
Second Harvest Heartland’s distributes more than 41 million pounds of food and grocery products annually to 960 food shelves, soup kitchens, shelters and programs in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Each year, low-income Minnesotans miss a staggering 125 million meals. That’s 10 missed meals a month for every struggling child, adult or senior.
